error loading pdf into webview

Hi,

I get

[ERROR] Couldn't determine the proper encoding. Make sure this file: The_iPad_App_Wave.pdf is UTF-8 encoded.

when loading a pdf into a webview. I think the message doesn't tell the real problem, since it also appears when using the pdf used in KitchenSink. Any hints?

  • There is a google viewer that works for .pdf "http://docs.google.com/viewer?embedded=true&url="Your URL Here" see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7403415/android-problem-in-using-the-google-pdf-viewer-in-webview

    • I actually stopped caring, I just open the pdf's in safari now (through openURL), they are hosted online anyway… BUT thanks for the solution, I might need it some other day.

  • Yup indeed, I agree with Jimmy. dealing with the related programs with the help of some professional pdf reading SDKs can make all the process much simpler and faster. You google it and select one whose way of processing is simple and fast to help you with the related work. Remember to check its free trial package first if possible. I hope you success. Good luck.

    Best regards,
