Install on Android device fail

SOLVED

I'm trying to install a new default app on my HTC hero and it fails.

The adb logcat says

Requires newer sdk version #4 (current version is #3)

I have the phone set up with unknown sources and debugging on.
I have all the sdk libraries in android ( 1.5 -> 2.2 )

Ti 1.4.0

Any ideas?
Thank you.

  • Have you installed the latest Android on your HTC Hero?
You have to update to Android 2.1!

First install the ROM update provided on HTC support site.
    http://www.htc.com/de/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=283&cat=2&dl_id=775

Then sometimes you have to set the Hero's internal calendar to 2011 before it will prompt you with a message to update your firmware.

Try googling for "HTC Hero Android 2.1".

  • I have this rom version 2.73.111.26 on my phone.
On the ink you gave me it's the same version.

    The Firmware version says 1.5

    It's a T-Mobile G2 and I think there is no 2.1 for it yet.

    Any solutions? Thanks

    • I think there are ways to get Android 2.1 running on a T-Mobile G2. As you do have the latest rom version (so called pre-update), have you tried adjusting your calendar?

  • Yes, I did, but after downloading the update( it appears the yellow sign and I have to reboot )

    Thank you :)

It turned out that the T-mobile ROM even it had the same version was somehow broken. I had to install the image you pointed to then the pre-update was able to install, then it installed the 2.1 update.
Took ages but in the end I managed to deliver an app to the phone.

    :)
