How to save a user generated database when application is updated

On the project I'm working on right now the user will be adding datas to his application(iPhone). I'm wondering what's happening to the database when the app is updated on the appstore. I didn't test it yet but from my experience I would say that the user database would be overwrited by the database inside the new version. Is there a way to avoid this?
Any help on how to manage a user generated database along various app version updates would be appreciated.

  • If you update your app, the DB will not be changed.

    Maybe this could help:
